While the holidays looked a little different this year, Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club went above and beyond to provide their members with a jolly and safe, holiday season. The community quickly transformed itself into a winter wonderland. Residents decorated their “village” entrances with wreaths, holiday decorations and lights. You could even find reindeer wearing a mask! Even with the current social distancing guidelines, members at Harbour Ridge were still able to come together and celebrate the holiday season together.

The festivities started at the beginning of the month with the Holiday Golf Cart Parade and lighting of the Clubhouse. Members lined up at Lakeside Fitness Center with their golf carts decked out with extravagant Christmas decorations to put together the most festive cart imaginable. Golf carts were wrapped with lights, garland and ribbon and some were even topped with holiday inflatables. The parade route concluded at the Clubhouse where they joined other members and socially distanced outside to enjoy a holiday cocktail and watched the full lighting of the Clubhouse and Dockside Christmas tree.

Keeping traditions alive, there was a little twist on the Annual Bring-a-Gift event. As members in the parade arrived at the Clubhouse, they each dropped off their unwrapped toy to be donated to local charities.

Harbour Ridge Golf Cart Parade

The holiday season at Harbour Ridge wouldn’t be complete without a Holiday Boat Parade! The festive evening kicked-off with an enjoyable dinner at the Clubhouse and then moved closer to the water at one of the three marinas. Members lined the riverside trail to see fellow Harbour Ridge boaters parade by for a bright display of holiday lights. Just like the golf carts, there was not an inch of any boat that wasn’t decorated. There were even some Christmas carolers there to fill with air with holiday cheer as the boats lit up the St. Lucie River.

The festivities don’t stop there, and the best is still to come! Harbour Ridge is ready to say goodbye to 2020 and bring in 2021 with a bang. Members can celebrate the New Year socially-distant in their own homes with New Year’s Eve party boxes filled with all the NYE essentials: party hats, streamers, noisemakers, a bottle of champagne and a chef-prepared three-course meal. There will of course be fireworks from the Golden Marsh course to welcome 2021.

Already looking ahead to next year, the member events calendar is filled with events from golf tournaments like the member annual Go Pink! Tournament, to supporting the Cleveland Clinic Martin Health Foundation Breast Cancer Navigator Program or the Yacht Club’s all-new annual fishing tournament. We can’t wait to see what else 2021 brings!

Driving through the gates of Harbour Ridge, a waterfront community in Palm City, Florida, it’s hard not to feel instantly more relaxed. The picturesque property is part of the region’s Treasure Coast, on the shores of the St. Lucie River, with views straight from a postcard. And it isn’t merely the scenery that washes away worries; it’s Harbour Ridge’s commitment to providing a safe sense of normalcy in unprecedented times.

“When the pandemic hit, many members shared that they felt like life remained mostly unchanged as they were in their ‘safety bubble,’” says Michael J. Salerno, general manager and COO of Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club. “They were still comfortable enjoying life here safely. Seasonal residents stayed longer than they would typically — with staff providing grocery deliveries, an onsite green market, the ability to golf and boat, and a host of other activities.”

As residents return to the property to reconnect with loved ones over the holidays, the staff is doubling down on these comforts with many of their annual festive events in place, albeit altered for safety. For instance, this year’s 5K Turkey Trot will be held virtually.

“We still have our family-friendly outdoor Winter Wonderland event, complete with snow, cookie decorating and pictures with Santa at our riverfront dining venue, Dockside,” Salerno says. “And there’s a holiday boat parade and outdoor tree lighting ceremony for all members and their families to safely enjoy by the riverfront. We are continuing to plan events for the season as best and safely as possible.”

Those remaining physically distant from relatives outside of their immediate household during a time of year when family is everything can still take solace in the warmth of such a close-knit community.

“Our staff gets to know our members, their families and guests,” says Salerno. “They have a service-led heart where they genuinely want to help and provide memories that last a lifetime.”

The Treasure Coast is surrounded by natural lands and refuges that offer plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities; but Harbour Ridge stands out from the rest and is every nature lover’s dream. 3. A Preserve Within a Sanctuary

Very, very few communities can say they have an Eagle Preserve on their property and Harbour Ridge is one of them. This Audubon-certified preserve is of comprised of 35 acres within the Golden Marsh course, where two Southern Bald Eagles nested for many years and their nest is still intact.

4. Waterfront Clubhouse that Captures the Magic

The Clubhouse offers panoramic views of the St. Lucie River and is tucked under the large Spanish Oaks that gives residents the feeling of being outside while inside. While enjoying a sunset dinner, the nightly entertainment is often provided by the Harbour Ridge wildlife.

6. The Nautical Haven

Three marinas, easy access to the Florida Waterways, and just 55 miles from the Bahamas— it’s no wonder that Harbour Ridge is the ultimate address for boaters. This community not only gives members the opportunity to indulge in nature on land, but also on the water with endless access.

7. Get Up Close and Personal with Nature

Boating isn’t the only way to experience the peaceful intercoastal waterways, at Harbour Ridge, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding are two very popular activities. Both activities make is easy to explore the wildlife on the river being as they can effortlessly venture through the mangrove-shoreline. Plus, there is a member-run Kayak Club!

8. Golf That Celebrates Its Surroundings

Members can play a round of golf alongside a sandhill crane as it strides across the green. Both championship golf courses are even certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses.

The Treasure Coast is home to many small businesses, and Downtown Stuart is full of places to grab a good cup of joe.

Whether you like it topped with foam and sugar, or prefer it pitch black, check out some of the best local coffee shops in Stuart.

Stuart Coffee Company

When you’re getting back from the farmer’s market, there’s no better place to grab a latte or an Americano than Stuart Coffee Company. Founders Kevin and Donna Barnes recognized coffee shops as gathering places for people, where they could meet and share ideas. It’s from these coffee shops that Stuart Coffee Company was built from. It’s why the walls here are lined with art that you can buy, why the shelves are filled with games and books from the lending library, and why the café is often filled with people. They also host live music nights and poetry events.

Parrot Coffee Company

From the start, this coffee shop was known for doing things differently. From its tropical décor to the its’ own blend of beans that it sells, this is where the fun-loving gather to connect and exchange ideas, or just hang out. Fun fact: this coffee shop is a branch of a local company that came from Fort Pierce. When you’re buying a cup here, no matter what it is, you’re supporting a local business! It’s no wonder why it made our list of best local coffee shops.

Gilbert’s Coffee Bar

This coffee shop off Sunset Bay Anchorage and Marina may seem unassuming, but they like to let their coffee do the talking here. Specialty offerings such as drip coffees and horchata cold brew blends, alongside their amazing waterfront view, makes this the perfect place to visit with a friend after an early morning run or walk. Gilbert’s Coffee Bar works to make themselves part of the local scene by hosting the area’s rising stars to play for them, and even serving as the meeting place for the local Surfrider Foundation Chapter to protect the cleanliness of the beaches here.

Osceola Street Café

Downtown Stuart’s trendiest café has an alternate identity as one of the best breakfast spots in town. Breakfast doesn’t end until 11:30, so you have plenty of time to enjoy scrambled eggs filled with ham and cheese, pancakes smothered in syrup, and freshly baked bagels topped with cream cheese, jam, lox, or whatever else you want. Its location in the heart of downtown and their wine menu makes this a great Sunday brunching spot.

Ground Floor Farm

Last, but certainly not least, on our list of best local coffee shops is Ground Floor Farm. If you wanted food that was fresher than what they serve at Ground Floor Farm, you would have to go and raise it yourself. Their business model is unique yet ensures that they’re always in stock with the freshest ingredients. What staff doesn’t grow on-site, they get from local businesses, ensuring that they give back to the community that supports them. It’s something to feel good about when you order one of their famous brunch plates, like the Shrimp and Grits made from purple rice grits and Key West shrimp, or slather homemade butter on the café’s famous sourdough bread. Grab a friend for a late breakfast, and then enjoy attending GFF’s many events, including their yoga classes and Open Mic Nights.

If there’s anything that Stuart knows how to do best, it’s adding to the area’s culture. Each of these coffee shops have brought their own way of doing things to Downtown Stuart, from Stuart Coffee Company’s frequent poetry nights to the performance opportunities that Gilbert’s Coffee Bar gives to local musicians. When you throw in the area’s history and beautiful nature, Stuart feels completely unique from every other city in Florida. There is a way to be a part of that culture. There are certain signs of spring that you just can’t ignore. Songbirds returning home. Flowers beginning to bloom. Spring training season being announced. As American of a tradition as apple pie, spring training lets fans see the new players of the team work their stuff and witness the older members of the team do what they do best. Port St. Lucie has a particularly strong case of spring training fever, thanks to it serving as the home of the New York Mets. They have some big things on their spring training calendar – make sure that you don’t miss a minute.

The New York Mets are set for a busy season. They have 14 home games and 13 away games during spring training, with them playing against the likes of the Boston Red Sox, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Baltimore Orioles. You won’t see matchups like this for a long time!

The New York Mets plan on truly shaking up their roster this year with all kinds of potential additions to their team. Hopefuls such as J.D. Davisshow promise with 42 wins under his belt and a .248 on base percentage for the 2018 season. Tim Tebow has been recently invited to train with the Mets at their major league camp, and is rumored to return to the team, as well. He helped them claim wins for the past two spring seasons, but a broken hand cut his season short in 2018. Fans are excited to watch this sports superstar tear up the baseball diamond!

Spring training is a big deal on the Treasure Coast. That happens when you’re close to some of the best teams in MLB. The people who live here have exposure to seeing some of the newest stuff before anyone else does. Whether you’re here year round or just for the season, attending a spring training game is a surefire winner.
