SmartAsset’s recent ranking based each county and city by three factors: state and local tax rates, number of doctors’ offices, recreation centers and retirement centers, and the number of seniors in the area compared to the population. After crunching the numbers, Martin County was found to have one of the largest retirement incomes of any U.S. county at $30,400. The study also found that there are about 14 doctors’ offices for every 1,000 people and 27.8% of the population is seniors. With so much to do here, it’s no wonder this quaint, fun town made its way up the list.
