The Treasure Coast is home to many small businesses, and Downtown Stuart is full of places to grab a good cup of joe.

Whether you like it topped with foam and sugar, or prefer it pitch black, check out some of the best local coffee shops in Stuart.

Stuart Coffee Company

When you’re getting back from the farmer’s market, there’s no better place to grab a latte or an Americano than Stuart Coffee Company. Founders Kevin and Donna Barnes recognized coffee shops as gathering places for people, where they could meet and share ideas. It’s from these coffee shops that Stuart Coffee Company was built from. It’s why the walls here are lined with art that you can buy, why the shelves are filled with games and books from the lending library, and why the café is often filled with people. They also host live music nights and poetry events.

Parrot Coffee Company

From the start, this coffee shop was known for doing things differently. From its tropical décor to the its’ own blend of beans that it sells, this is where the fun-loving gather to connect and exchange ideas, or just hang out. Fun fact: this coffee shop is a branch of a local company that came from Fort Pierce. When you’re buying a cup here, no matter what it is, you’re supporting a local business! It’s no wonder why it made our list of best local coffee shops.

Gilbert’s Coffee Bar

This coffee shop off Sunset Bay Anchorage and Marina may seem unassuming, but they like to let their coffee do the talking here. Specialty offerings such as drip coffees and horchata cold brew blends, alongside their amazing waterfront view, makes this the perfect place to visit with a friend after an early morning run or walk. Gilbert’s Coffee Bar works to make themselves part of the local scene by hosting the area’s rising stars to play for them, and even serving as the meeting place for the local Surfrider Foundation Chapter to protect the cleanliness of the beaches here.

Osceola Street Café

Downtown Stuart’s trendiest café has an alternate identity as one of the best breakfast spots in town. Breakfast doesn’t end until 11:30, so you have plenty of time to enjoy scrambled eggs filled with ham and cheese, pancakes smothered in syrup, and freshly baked bagels topped with cream cheese, jam, lox, or whatever else you want. Its location in the heart of downtown and their wine menu makes this a great Sunday brunching spot.

Ground Floor Farm

Last, but certainly not least, on our list of best local coffee shops is Ground Floor Farm. If you wanted food that was fresher than what they serve at Ground Floor Farm, you would have to go and raise it yourself. Their business model is unique yet ensures that they’re always in stock with the freshest ingredients. What staff doesn’t grow on-site, they get from local businesses, ensuring that they give back to the community that supports them. It’s something to feel good about when you order one of their famous brunch plates, like the Shrimp and Grits made from purple rice grits and Key West shrimp, or slather homemade butter on the café’s famous sourdough bread. Grab a friend for a late breakfast, and then enjoy attending GFF’s many events, including their yoga classes and Open Mic Nights.

If there’s anything that Stuart knows how to do best, it’s adding to the area’s culture. Each of these coffee shops have brought their own way of doing things to Downtown Stuart, from Stuart Coffee Company’s frequent poetry nights to the performance opportunities that Gilbert’s Coffee Bar gives to local musicians. When you throw in the area’s history and beautiful nature, Stuart feels completely unique from every other city in Florida. There is a way to be a part of that culture.
