The Sailfish is one of the most acrobatic fish in the ocean and when they get hooked up they put on a show you’ll never forget. The tail-walking, head thrashing and leaping into the air is an awesome sight to see as it’s ripping the line off your reel. For the sportsman who loves to cast a line, the open water offshore Stuart and the Treasure Coast is widely regarded as the “Sailfish Capital of the World,” by fishing enthusiasts and is praised as an angler’s paradise.

Stuart, Florida sits right in the middle of Sailfish Alley on the Treasure Coast which encompasses Port St. Lucie, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Stuart, and Jupiter, Florida. The Sailfish is the most sought-after sport-fish in the world and although prime time is the colder winter months, off the coast of Stuart, they are caught year-round. Sailfish stack up along the Treasure Coast and start moving again when the winter cold fronts start pushing through. The Sailfish migration begins during the fall but packs of Sailfish travel down the east coast of Florida feeding on mullet, sardines, and threadfin herring all year round.

Living on the Treasure Coast definitely has its perks and the world-class fishing adventures are just the beginning. Tarpon, snook, pompano, and redfish are plentiful in the Intracoastal Waterway and St. Lucie River. Offshore, mahi-mahi, grouper, snapper, and blackfin tuna are high on the list for a fresh catch for dinner.  Sport fishermen from around the world flock to the region to enjoy the enviable resort lifestyle which is enhanced by the carefree, waterfront lifestyle of prime waterfront communities.

Topping the list is Harbour Ridge. Situated on the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, Harbour Ridge encompasses two miles of beautiful, pristine riverfront and is home to three private marinas for boats of every size. Once there, residents enjoy the best of both worlds with a secluded harbor for your vessel and easy ocean access just minutes away.

Harbour Ridge’s marinas offer a combined 98 slips, ranging in size from 24 to 60 feet. For the non-boaters n the community, the estuary shoreline is also a launching point for kayaking, paddleboarding and birdwatching. The area offers many intriguing destinations including the quaint and charming downtown Stuart, the mangroves of the north fork where Thunderball wall filmed, and the barrier islands of the St. Lucie River estuaries. Paddleboarding has become the latest fitness craze to combine a love of nature with a desire to stay healthy and fit.  The entire family will enjoy discovering playful porpoise, gentle manatee, starfish and other magnificent creatures native to the area.

An abundance of shoreline and natural beauty keeps generations of families from around the globe calling the Treasure Coast home. Miles and miles of waterways invite exploration and adventure. Catch a glimpse of a Florida lobster or large snook swimming the reefs at Bathtub Beach. Share the shoreline with sea turtles and hatchlings, and watch the tarpon swimming along the beach just yards away.

With the west end of the Bahamas just 55 miles offshore, and the Gulf of Mexico accessible via the Okeechobee Waterway, there’s no limit to your adventure. Take a cruise out to Lake Okeechobee or spend the day snorkeling and diving offshore, the pristine Florida waters are your playground.
